.:: Ramadan Goes... Syawal Comes ::.

I'm still not sleepy and I just feel like blogging... Its been a week I've not done so... Need to let off some steam over here...

Aidilfitri is just about 24hrs more to go.... Home is sort of ready... nothing glamourous for this year... Just use whatever I have previously...Except of course we bought new clothes for the 1st day of Syawal...

Ramadan came and almost gone like a breeze. Time doesn't flies anymore but just came in a rush without even waiting for us to catch up... I didn't prepare much this year and I didn't even feel like celebrating....

I discovered that as we grow older, our enthusiasm for Aidilfitri starts to diminish.... Can't wait to get over and done with all the visiting, putting on nice clothes and make-up.... Seriously! Doing all this for the sake of my parents and Ilyas.... Other than that, I just felt like hibernating at home and eating up all the cookies in front of the telly!

Towards the end of Ramadan, I felt a lil melancholic as I felt that I didn't make full use of the holy month to ponder, reflect and be spiritually involved. Well, I'm never too sure if I'm gonna see the next Ramadan, but I do hope that I'm able to..... Suddenly there's a rush of emotions and feelings that 'I'm not ready to go yet - kinda feeling', if you know what I mean....

Hokay, enuf of emo-moments! To me, this year's Ramadan has some 'turn of events' affecting my life....if not directly, some are indirectly..... Well, whatever come may.... Bring it on! Like any other shitty moments I've ever faced before, I'll pull thru the next challenges God has to offer me, insya Allah!

.:: Iftar @ 5zal's Crib ::.

Yesterday, we were invited to have iftar at Faizal's crib together with some friends.

It seems to be a yearly tradition to have iftar at his crib and its potluck again. Since Ramadan started, its been a while we've not met up or had our lepak session at Rezki. So yesterday was catching up time.

While the men, watched soccer match between Liverpool & Man U, the ladies had our gossip session... hehe...

Thanks Faizal & Fathma... next year we'll do it again, ya... insya Allah..

.:: Early To Leave... ::.

Hokay, its been 3 days in a row or should I say since last Friday that I've managed to leave the office before it was sunset... hehe...

Its Ramadhan afterall and I must be a good daughter / wife / mommy and behave... work can wait for a while.... Nothing beats breaking fast together with my family.... at least for this whole week, ya... :)

Work was manageable for the past few days despite going back early and the only thing that is bothering me is the blasting aircon at work which made me go bbrrrrrrr.....C.O.L.D!

Most of the time, my friends and colleagues will see me putting on my hood like this while working....

Hehe.... Hmmm...maybe I should dig out for some old gloves to put on too but darn! I've only got like one riding glove instead of a pair coz lost the other one in Laos after the accident! hahaha...

.:: Post Birthday Ramblings ::.

My birthday was on last Friday but till today, I'm still receiving well-wishes and gifts... hehe.. so sweet of my loved ones....be it family or friends....

And of all the gifts I've received, this one made me laugh out loud while ripping off the gift wrapper....

Very the sengaja kan? Given by the naughty duo, Faz and Nurul... Of coz the mastermind was the one who die-die tak nak mengaku that he is 2 months older than me! In denial of his age, always....

They said that I'm always having PMS on every Monday so they decided to get this for me on top of the actual prezzie... pfft! And yes, I can share the supply together with Kuniang & Fad as their PMS day falls on Wednesday and Friday, respectively...hahaha!

On a seperate note, someone didn't wish me on my birthday... not that I was hard up for the well-wishes...but he usually never forgets.... I guess, people moved on, huh? And unanimously, 3 people (on seperate conversations) told me that possibly a new chapter in his life has occupied his time... Yeah possibly and I wish him well for that....and I've moved on too....

Btw, today being the first day of Ramadhan, I didn't work late :) And here's wishing all Muslims... Ramadhan Al Mubarak...

.:: Iftar @ 5zal's ::.

Yesterday, a few of us had iftar at Faizal's abode..

Food was potluck and as you can see, there were varieties to choose from... From homemade delicacies right up to food bought from Geylang's bazaar.

At the same time, we took the opportunity to celebrate the birthdays of September babies....Thx to Ima for the delicious cake from Emicake!

.:: My Fasting Son ::.

We have been fasting for almost 2 weeks now and I'm proud to say that my son, Ilyas is fasting too....

Nope, its not the puasa 'yok-yok' where by afternoon he breaks his fast but he's been fasting full day, except for the first 2 days of Ramadan...

This year was his first experience in fasting.

The first day of Ramadan, he was practically begging me every hour, calling my handphone and asked if he could have his milk....told him that by afternoon, he could break his fast...Even my mom, who was taking care of him called saying that she almost gave-in to him when he pleaded to her with watery eyes using the reverse psychology of getting his milk. With his sad puppy eyes, he asked her if my mom loves him and if she does, to let him break his fast (and it was only 9am!).....I was on the other end of the phone trying to tell my mom not to 'fall' into his 'sad story traps' and only to let him break his fast in the afternoon!

Then on the 2nd day, he went to school which ended at 2.30pm. He was almost in hysteria when we did not want to let him break his fast when he was back from school but later we succumbed to his pleas and let him have his bottle of milk and only to continue the fast till the evening....

From the 3rd of Ramadan, Alhamdulillah, half day fasting is history. He began his full day of fasting without much problems encountered. No more reverse psychology, no more sad stories, except for occasional question from him if he could have his milk. Must be trying out his luck, i guess....and no tantrums thrown when we said he could only have it in the evening.

Insya Allah, he'll continue with his full day fasting regime till end of Ramadan. Ilyas darling, Abah & Ibu are very very proud of you!

.:: Iftar & Geylang ::.

Together with the Alteregoz as they used to call themselves, we had our Iftar at Restaurant Makanan Laut Chai Chee yesterday. It was a long overdue treat from Ani...

Thanks Ani for the scrumptious meal!

After a full tummy of delicious seafood, we headed to Geylang to check out the Ramadan Bazaar over there.... As usual, it was packed with people, mostly busy window shopping....

We didn't get anything for ourselves except for a few rounds of drinks while we window shopped as last night was sure a hot night at Geylang...

.:: Ramadan ::.

Tomorrow marks the first day of the Ramadan month. A month where Muslims around the world fast in the day and increase their religious activities over the month...

A month full of barakah and a month of abstinence. Patience and perseverance are the keywords. For me, this will be the month to shed some 'excess baggage'!

I'm taking the opportunity to wish all Muslims around the world....
